Should I get a 3ds or ps3?

My mom will get me one or the other 2moro. I really don't know which to get. The ps3 has better graphics yes but the 3ds is portable and graphics wouldn't really matter. One thing I have to take in consideration is that a ps4 will soon come out and I would be stuck with a outdated console. Also my mom will never buy me anything else and won't let me even spend my own money on another console to at least when i'm 18. AT LEAST. (I just turned 14). And the 3ds is new and will last me more than 4 years and I love pokemon. But I will always hate mario. And the ps3 will get skyrim but I could always play it on my pc since I have a 2010 pc. But I know no one with a 3ds so that kinda sucks.
